Pacquiao-Marquez III

On the third face off between the Filipino boxing icon Manny 'Pacman' Pacquaio and Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico, the fighter from the Philippines emerged victorious via majority decision.

The fight held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 12, 2011 lasted 12 rounds and was a tight match between the two opposing warriors.  It can be remembered that the first meeting between these two amazing boxers ended up in a draw in 2004.  Their second bout in 2008 was just as intense as the first though Pacman was the victor via split decision only because he was able to overpower Marquez on the third round.  The third and final face off held a promise from both boxers to settle all doubts on who is the better fighter.

Early on in the match, Pacquiao fans are getting worried because Marquez is proving how he's a tough opponent to beat.  On the 9th round, Pacquiao is bleeding because of a split lip and the Pinoy fighter still has not found his rhythm in the fight.  Fans are speculating that the only way for Pacman to win the match was to knockout Marquez.  This was indeed a really close fight and fans throughout the world have mixed opinions on who is the real winner.

Here are the statistics from the match to help the fans understand why Pacquiao won:

Pacquaio apparently threw (142) more punches than Marquez and also managed
to land 176 on Marquez compared to Marquez' 138.  That's 42 more punches coming
from Pacquaio and hitting Marquez fair and square.
More POWER punches came from Pacquaio as well.

And here's where all the punches landed with Marquez getting
all the left and right hook on the face.
Here are the judges and their scores:  Robert Hoyle 114-114, Dave Moretti 115-113, and Glenn Trowbridge 116-112, in favor of Pacquaio.  All judges are from Nevada.  With this win, Manny Pacquaio retains his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title.

On the Post-Fight PressCon that followed, Bob Arum (Pacquaio's promoter) brought up the possibility of a fourth fight.
